Demonstrate
The EDL has announced that it has abandoned plans to spread race hate in Tower Hamlets, East London, on Sunday 20 June.  This is a clear victory for anti-racist campaigners.  On Sunday over 700 people attended the UAF/ East London Mosque meeting to oppose the EDL, with hosts of community organisations and trade unions coming on board.  This would not have been a repeat of  Aylesbury and the EDL knew they would be hugely outnumbered by anti-racist forces.

The anti-racist demonstration called by UAF an United East End will still go ahead however the emphasis is now on a local protest with a national mobiliation against the EDL in Bradford on Saturday 28 August.

Given the lowering of the priority of the East London we are now getting indications that people will not be mobilising on the same scale from the local area which is making our transport unviable.  Oxford Unite Against Fascism has therefore made the difficult decision not to go ahead with the coach to  East London next weekend.  We encourage people still wishing to attend to use public tranpsort to get there.

We do plan to support the national demonstration in Bradford on August 28th to ensure the best possible turnout to stop the EDL there.
